Saint Dunstan Hoodie

A classic unisex hoodie with a large front pouch pocket and drawstrings in matching colour.

One of England's most popular medieval saints, Saint Dunstan (c. 909 - 988) was born in Somerset. Embracing an eremitical life around 945 at Glastonbury, Dunstan  eventually became Abbot of Glastonbury and a major promoter of monastic reform. 
Basing himself on the Rule of Saint Benedict, he carried out extensive building projects, founded a school for the local youth, and entrusted the Abbey's temporalities to his brother Wulfric so that the monks would not have to break enclosure.

Depending on the reining monarch, Dunstan was frequently either sought as advisor to the king or persecuted for upholding justice and morality. He was eventually raised to the archiepiscopal see of Canterbury. In 975 Dunstan crowned King Edgar, composing a ceremony for the occasion which still forms the basis for the present day British coronation ceremony. 

Dunstan was famed for his skill at metal work, music, and illumination; it is recorded that in his hermit days at Glastonbury he played the harp, while in his declining years he made bells, organs, and corrected manuscripts in his cathedral library. It is possible that the Kyrie given in the Roman Gradual under mass VII was composed by Saint Dunstan.
