Glendalough Round Tower Candle
Handcrafted by the monks of Silverstream Priory, this candle is a replica of the monastic tower which stands at the early Medieval monastic settlement of Glendalough in County Wicklow, Ireland. Founded in the 6th century by St Kevin, the remains of the monastic settlement of Glendalough which still stand today date from between the 10th and 12th centuries. The Glendalough tower served a variety of purposes, being a storage space, bell tower, landmark, and a fortified refuge during Viking attacks.
One of our most popular candle designs, this candle is 34 cm (13 1/2 in) from top to bottom. It is made from 70% pure beeswax expertly blended with 30% pure paraffin wax to produce a sweet-smelling candle which has a noble appearance and steady burn, our Glendalough round tower candle is a perfect example of our monastery’s crafts inspired by a rich heritage of Irish monasticism.
